Sea of sand

This is an aerial Photograph taken during an sunrise flight over the of the desert, Namib-Naukluft Park.
Imagine just a small window (20x20 cm), with a tremendous suction power....it was a big mission to achieve focus among sudden ups and downs, suctions, and frame every shot!
it is simply stunning the scenery composed of a sea of red dunes, bathed in the face by the golden tone of the rising sun.
That big white "pool" is the Dead Vlei, an old lake with dead trees with more than 900 hundred years old, surrounded on the right side with the famous dune "Big Daddy”.
The clay pan was formed after rainfall, when the Tsauchab river flooded, creating temporary shallow pools where the abundance of water allowed trees to grow. When the climate changed, drought hit the area, and sand dunes encroached on the pan and the trees died, as there no longer was enough water to survive.
