Red Hat
I met this fantastic lady by chance on a day when I was exploring some remote villages in Chin State, Myanmar.
Her house displayed at the door numerous skulls of dead animals, and I stopped out to photograph. When she heard movement proudly got out explaining that the skulls were hunting trophies that her husband once hunted.
This state is remote and mountainous, and is home to one of the most peculiar traditions in the world, where the girls of the villages, when they turned 8 or 9 years old, were tattooed on their faces the pattern of that tribe, in this case the Munn tribe.
It is now said that the tradition began in order to make girls undesirable, causing them not to be kidnapped by looters.
This tradition has been banned by the government for many years, so it will soon disappear.
